Firefighter 1 - Dual Credit

Course Description:

Firefighter 1A Dual Credit introduces students to firefighter safety and development. Students will analyze Texas Commission on Fire Protection rules and regulations, proper incident reporting and records, proper use of personal protective equipment, and the principles of fire safety. This course is the first year of a two commitment to the Lewisville ISD Firefighter program. This is a dual credit course conducted in cooperation with North Central Texas College and the Lewisville Fire Department. During the two years, students will receive the training necessary to sit for the exam to become a Texas Certified Firefighter. Instruction will consist of classroom and field experiences. LISD students entering their Junior year are eligible but, enrollment is limited. Students/Parents/Guardians are responsible for any registration, tuition, fees and textbook costs. Students served under Free/Reduced lunch may qualify for tuition waivers.

Prerequisite & Recommendations:

Prerequisite: Admission to the LISD Firefighter Dual Credit program. Recommendation: Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security.
