ART 1 B - Virtual Learning

Course Description:

Art 1 Virtual is an online class. Please read through entire description. This is the foundation for all other art courses. No prior drawing skills are necessary. The elements and the principles of design are emphasized through a variety of projects and problems in both two- dimensional and three- dimensional design, drawing, painting, and printmaking. The course includes a survey of historical and cultural developments in art. Students develop skills in observing, problem-solving, manipulating art media, and evaluating art works. Preparation of a portfolio is required. One full credit (18 weeks) must be earned in Art 1 for entry into a Level 2 or higher art course. While instruction and content are delivered over the internet, students do have opportunities to meet with their instructor for personalized instruction using video conferencing and periodic face to face by appointment. Flexibility of the course allows for inside and outside the school day scheduling. If taken inside the school day, students have the option to schedule the course during their 1st, 3rd, or 4th periods. Students do not have to be physically present on campus to take an online course. While there is flexibility in the time of day you work on your classes, they are NOT self-paced.
