Model UN 4

Course Description:

Advanced Model UN students will be responsible for supervising the development of the TCCMUN Conference; this includes proofreading and publishing background guides, scoring position papers submitted, chairing committees, scoring competing delegates according to the predetermined rubrics, and leading the opening and closing ceremonies. Students will continue to prepare for upcoming competitions and perform as lead delegates while mentoring less experienced delegates. Advanced MUN students will update the TCCMUN website and maintain the team's social media presence. Students will also develop discussion topics and guide mock conferences to help all students practice and improve. As a part of this international model of United Nations simulations, this class will focus on the following objectives: 1. The student will prepare and present research on key international issues and learn different nation-states' opinions and concerns about those issues. 2. The student will speak persuasively and fluently about a wide variety of important international topics. 3. The student will write high quality, well researched position papers on a variety of subjects. 4. The students will participate in at least two competitive Model United Nations conferences throughout the school year.
