Model UN 2

Course Description:

Intermediate Model UN focuses on developing students' understanding of the various committees that are a part of the United Nations and the responsibilities of each committee as a part of the global mission of the UN. Students will focus on developing topics, researching, writing position papers, and presenting arguments in preparation for mock conferences. Students will also prepare for monthly competitions and participate as delegates of the TCCMUN team. Students will prepare the research necessary to create the backgrounds for the TCCMUN Annual Conference, assist with committee creation, and practice implementing and leading parliamentary debates. As a part of this international model of United Nations simulations, this class will focus on the following objectives: 1. The student will prepare and present research on key international issues and learn different nation-states' opinions and concerns about those issues. 2. The student will speak persuasively and fluently about a wide variety of important international topics. 3. The student will write high quality, well researched position papers on a variety of subjects. 4. The students will participate in at least two competitive Model United Nations conferences throughout the school year.
