Model UN 1

Course Description:

Introduction to Model UN is a beginners course that teaches the history of the formation of the United Nations, introduces the student to the structure of the United Nations, teaches the basics of Parliamentary Procedure, teaches basic research techniques, beginning position paper writing, and is an introduction to creating and presenting effective arguments. As a part of this international model of United Nations simulations, this class will focus on the following objectives: 1. The student will prepare and present research on key international issues and learn different nation-states' opinions and concerns about those issues. 2. The student will speak persuasively and fluently about a wide variety of important international topics. 3. The student will write high quality, well researched position papers on a variety of subjects. 4. The students will participate in at least two competitive Model United Nations conferences throughout the school year.
