Course Description:

Japanese 1 is the introductory course in the Japanese language and culture. During this course, students will develop speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills in Japanese around topics related to the everyday life of a student. The initial skill focus is placed on speaking and listening while gaining knowledge of the Japanese writing system. Students will use Japanese in the interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational communication modes as the basis for meeting the TEKS. Students will gain an understanding of culturally appropriate responses and practices. Students in this course are expected to reach a proficiency level of Novice Mid-High. This course is conducted in Japanese a significant amount of time.
