English 3 Sheltered for Speakers of Other Languages

Course Description:

Counts as English 3 for graduation requirements for English Learners. The district provides a linguistically accommodated English 3 Sheltered course. This instruction seeks to further develop skills in English in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and an awareness of various cultural patterns found in the United States while maintaining the rigor of English 3 by following the English 3 TEKS and English Language Proficiency Standards as mandated by the state. Testing for placement is required and students must be receiving ESL services to enroll in this class.

Prerequisite: - English 1 or ESOL 1 - Limited proficiency in the English language as determined by a state approved language assessment - Testing for placement is required and student must be receiving ESL services
